Hi everyone - this is the first post on our Hill Family Blog which is named Pocahontas Hills. Let's just try to add a note or two to become familair with posting, okay?
I think we are right to change the inforatmion we have on Cruikshanks to Crookshanks. The 1870 census information has the name spelled Crookshanks for William and Harriett. Also, next door to them appears a Dick Crookshanks also born in Virginia so this probably is the same family. Is anyone reading this? Gail
Hi - on the Crookshanks - I am guessing maybe the right way is Crookshanks but list the Cruikshanks in parenthessis. Let me ask my Mormon sister how they do name spelling differences. I'll check and see. Curtis already had a google account so I guess he will be joining us soon - let me send him another invitation.
On the spelling of names, I checked with my sister who prepares files for Temple. She suggested that on different spelling of names that you use the spelling the person used in their life and then list the alternative spelling in parenthesis. Hope this helps and hope everyone is catching on. Does everyone have a Google account now? Goodnight
We are a small group of researchers and genealogists who are dedicated specifically to Richard Hill's family of Pocahontas County, West Virginia. We are attempting to make sure the first generations and subsequent ones are listed with complete information. One of our primary desires is to know through documentation who Richard Hill's parents were.
Anyone may share with us. Good luck in your family hunting.
